Pilates combines a series of movements and exercises that slowly increase your strength, flexibility, mobility, posture, balance and body awareness. Pilates is suitable for all ages and abilities and can be adapted and progressed to suit individual needs.
I teach both matwork and reformer Pilates.
Whether on the mat or the reformer, I focus my Pilates practice around controlled, precise movement, including focus on the breath and working in all planes of movement. This helps keep muscles strong and lean and supports your posture, joints and spine. The breath helps the body function optimally as it aids muscle function, keeps oxygen levels up and brings focus to each exercise.
I have a lot of clients who come to me seeking help for their back pain or to rehabilitate following injury or surgery. With regular practice they start to see what Pilates does for them - their spine health & joint mobility improves, their general health improves and they have all round more fluid & functional movement.
I am a Stott qualified Pilates instructor, teaching both matwork and reformer Pilates.
I believe that movement is an integral part of our health and wellbeing and Pilates is a perfect exercise for anyone looking to improve their core strength, flexibility, stability, posture and balance.
I came to Pilates following back surgery. I used Pilates as part of my rehabilitation and I can whole-heartedly tell you that it works.
I think that all things take commitment and practice. Pilates is no different - you have to commit yourself to get the most out it. I make a commitment to my clients to teach them functional Pilates, and in turn, I ask them to make a commitment to their Pilates practice.
I have a strong interest in back care, active ageing, women's health, wellbeing & nutrition. If you practice with me, be prepared to learn more about these things too, as I bring self care & general wellbeing into my classes too.
As well as Pilates, I regularly practice Qigong and Yoga. I love being outside, especially walking in the Northamptonshire countryside. My 2 springer spaniels take me on a long walk every day!
I focus on teaching people the Pilates technique on a one-to-one basis, from my home studio in Orlingbury (matwork and reformer).
One-to-one time allows you to focus solely on your own needs and personal outcome - whatever you wish to achieve from your Pilates practice.
It's an ideal way to learn the basic principles of Pilates, and I commit to teaching you technique and working your body as a whole, which will allow you to achieve your goals more quickly and build upon your practice.
I can also assist you in preparing for surgery, recovering from surgery and recovering from injury too.
